I’ve been going to a couple of jam nights here in Shanghai, and there’s a guy that always plays this song. He sings too of course. Ever since hearing him play, it’s been stuck in my head. Here’s my attempt at it.
In my last movie, a viewer asked for a tab transcription of what I was playing. This is a video explaining how I played Unrest in the House of Light by the Protomen.
I first heard this tune on the GeekDads.com podcast. I don’t like their regular podcasts much, it’s basically some guys chatting about technology, but every second podcast is about music, and they always play interesting stuff.
I forget who, but I got two questions recently about how you can only ever see one guitar on my videos, but can hear two. I tried to do a bit of an explanation, but as usual Wikipedia does it much better. Read what it has to say here.
The Protomen have some really awesome stuff; look them up on iTunes, or have a look at their homepage at Protomen.com. Their songs are about a computer game… if that’s not your thing don’t let it bother you, you wouldn’t know unless someone told you about it. They rock regardless.
Aika came home today with these beauties. They cost her only 15RMB, including the pink socks that are between her feet and her shoes. Aika’s toes have been getting a little chilly lately and these slippers combine warmth with her favourite colour.

In between this video and the last one in which I played piano, I have been hit by crippling RSI, and haven’t been able to play. (Ok, maybe not crippling!)
But a few bouts of old guys sticking needles in me (they call it “acupuncture” in some places) has my wrists good as new, and I thought I’d have a tinker today.
Got quite a lot planned this week. I’ve got two tracks to put up, which might take a while to do… They involve Chinese and Japanese voice overs. I won’t say any more; I’m just writing these few sentences so that I won’t forget to do them.
I’m also going to organise my Youtube channel a bit better. At the moment it’s really unorganised. I’ve been meaning to do it for a long time, like I said before, I hope that by posting this it will mean that I’ll actually do it.
