Max’s Intro In Korean/Japanese

Here I am on LanguageCast.net introducing myself in Japanese. I'm sure there's more material that I was involved in to be uploaded soon!

I'd planned to do the entire thing in Japanese, but someone asked me to do it in Korean. I did my best to add some Korean in there.

If you're having trouble finding it, here's the link to my intro:

Acupuncture

As I was sitting in the acupuncture clinic stuck with needles, I overheard a conversation between two first timers who were waiting to get their needles. They were worrying about whether or not it would hurt, and seemed really nervous about it. I got the idea for this video.

Hope it's useful. I realise it's a little rough, but I hope you get something out of it anyway.

Chess

This is a cover of a song by Rivers Cuomo, the guy from Weezer. It's called "Chess". It's from his album "Alone".

Rivers is often about on YouTube, actually. Say hello and tell him how great my version of his song is! ;)

It was actually a YouTube video that started it all: I saw a video mentioning his album, I looked it up in iTunes, a click of a button labelled "BUY THIS ALBUM" and I was the new owner of a copy of "Alone". "Chess" is one of the tracks on it.

One of the great things about it is that it was recorded entirely at his home studio. Selling music recorded is something that I'm interested in too. (Watch this space for my first professional release!)

Hope you like my version.

Fish on a Stick

Aika has been sick after eating a fried fish, that was skewered on a stick. The name of this tune is a tribute to that fish and its terrible wrath.

Applemilk’s Blog

Read along with me here: http://ameblo.jp/applemilk17/entry-10157681185.html

Applemilk is a girl who posts on Youtube. She's started writing a blog (mostly in Japanese) but has recently started adding English translations. Good for those of us learning Japanese. In this video I read one of her entries to camera.

I don't know why that accent came out... she has an American accent, so when I read her English writing for some reason I adopted it!

The Burn Saga

I looked at my blog this morning, and realised that there's a lot missing.

I promised that I'd make some material in those languages every week. But for the past two weeks I've (seemingly) done nothing! This blog doesn't have anything in either language!

Not so though. I've been reading a story over at youtube but have just forgotten to put a post up here.

What I've done is recorded myself doing the voices for a manga called Conan: the Detective. Basically just a whodunnit.

In the show notes of each video I've put a link to a translation of what I'm reading, so you can read along with me.

Here are the videos. They are alternately in Chinese and Japanese.

Short Story

Here's the recording of this short story. It's a little peculiar so I'll just let you listen without me telling you anything beforehand.

Here are the words:

嘿!你是谁?
え!あなた誰?
Hey! Who are you?

I'm "Turner".

What are you doing in my house? Stealing?

No, I'm your son's friend.

My son's friend?

Ahhh... I mean your daughter's friend.

Really? Strange, she didn't tell me that a friend was coming over.

She probably forgot to tell you. She's been busy studying.

Busy? Recently she's had it easy, doing nothing except sit at home watching TV!

Really? I guess I've come to the wrong place.

Japanese Adjectives

古い/furui (old)

In case you can't follow (or if I've made too many mistakes for it to be intelligible, which is just as likely!):

The "old" object is my iPod 30G. Apple don't actually sell them any more, so that's why I chose it.
The "safe" object is a wrist pad for roller blading.
The "heavy" object is a chair.
The "difficult" object is my Japanese copy of 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban'.
The "inconvenient" object is a pair of chopsticks. (As Seinfeld said, "You don't see a guy plowing a field with a couple of pool cues, do you!")
The "boring" object is a copy of a movie that I didn't enjoy.

What Do You Want?

Aika needs a few hours' notice before appearing on camera which is why she is hiding so much in this video. If you can't see it, have a look here.
